Elon Musk’s commercial rocket company, SpaceX, will accept Dogecoin (DOGE) as a form of payment to launch a lunar mission next year.
DOGE – 1 Mission to the Moon
“Dogefather” title is increasingly deserved by Elon Musk. The billionaire announced this week (9) that the upcoming SpaceX mission will be paid for with Dogecoin (DOGE).
With the launch of “DOGE-1 Mission to the Moon” in the first quarter of 2022, DOGE will officially be used a form of payment and will also be the first cryptocurrency in space.
“SpaceX launching satellite DOGE-1 to the moon next year – Mission paid for in Doge – 1st crypto in space – 1st meme in space“, announced Elon Musk on Twitter.

“DOGE – 1 Mission to the Moon” Press release
In a release to the press, the Geometric Energy Corporation, responsible for managing the mission with SpaceX, announced the launch of “a 40kg cubesat on a Falcon 9 lunar payload mission in Q1 2022”.
In addition, the payload will obtain lunar-spatial intelligence from sensors and cameras on-board. They will have integrated communications and computational systems.
The value of the mission’s funding has not been released. However, according to GEC CEO Samuel Reid, “Having officially negotiated with DOGE for a deal of this magnitude, Geometric Energy Corporation and SpaceX have solidified DOGE as a unit of account for lunar businesses in the space sector”.
SpaceX and Dogecoin: Is this the beginning of an interplanetary commercial era?
SpaceX’s vice president of commercial sales, Tom Ochinero, also shared his view with the press. According to him, the SpaceX mission will demonstrate how DOGE can be used beyond Earth’s orbit and establish the basis for interplanetary trade.
The note also revealed that DOGE proved to be a fast, reliable and secure digital currency in terms of cryptography. The cryptocurrency operates when traditional banks cannot, and is sophisticated enough to fund a full moon mission.
“It (DOGE) has been chosen as the unit of account for all lunar business between SpaceX and Geometric Energy Corporation and sets precedent for future missions to the Moon and Mars”, said the PR.
“DOGE to the Moon. Literally.”
It’s worth remembering Musk’s tweet in April. According to the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, Dogecoin (DOGE) would literally go to the Moon.

This tweet also reinforces the idea that SpaceX wants to start an era of interplanetary trade.
DOGE price
Dogecoin lost more than 1⁄3 of its price this Sunday, 9, after Musk called the cryptocurrency a “hustle” during his participation on the Saturday Night Live (SNL) TV show.
However, when asked about ‘what is Dogecoin’, Musk replied: “It is the future of the currency. It is an unstoppable financial vehicle that will dominate the world.”
When a member of the show’s cast, Michael Che, replied, “So, is it a mess?”, Musk replied, “Yes, it’s a mess,” and laughed. Watch the video below:
Recently, the billionaire claimed that although DOGE is the future of cryptocurrencies, it is necessary to be careful when investing in cryptocurrencies.

It is needless to say that Elon Musk has a strong influence on people, be them followers or investors. This year, his tweets about Dogecoin turned the “meme cryptocurrency” into the dream of any investor.
According to data from CoinGeko, Dogecoin jumped more than 800% in April. In addition, on Thursday 5, the digital asset reached its all-time high of $ 0.73.
Currently, Dogecoin is the fourth largest cryptocurrency, with a market cap of $ 65 billion and $ 0.50 in market value. Could it achieve the $ 1 price?
