MetaJuice is a blockchain-oriented subsidiary of Together Labs. It shared some valuable NFT data collected from a survey of more than 6,000 sellers and buyers of nonfungible tokens (NFTs) in IMVU, the world’s biggest Web3 social metaverse.
The collected data from the users provides a distinct look into the buying trends of NFTs among IMVU’s active community. They include people immersed in the virtual world since 2006. What does the data say about digital assets within the information age?
What The IMVU NFT Data Revealed
To gather the NFT data, IMVU sent out a 35-question survey to many participants from different ages, genders, and platforms. Participation was wholly voluntary, without any incentive paid. More than 40% of the participants are aged 18-24. Furthermore, at least 60% of the participants identify as female, and over 30% have been on IMVU for at least two years.
The publication of this data comes at a time of resurgence in the NFT space. Trading volumes have surged by 42.9%, from $662 million in October last year to $946 million in January 2023. Here is what they discovered:
- Status Symbol – the desire to express oneself is present, with 74% buying NFTs for reasons like originality, status, and visual appeal, while about 13% acquired NFTs with intentions of reselling them at a profit. Owning NFTs as a status symbol it appears, is still ultimate in the space.
- First Purchaser – 87% of the NFT owners made their initial NFT purchase on IMVU, and 93% of NFT buyers are interested in buying once more.
- Future Purchase Decisions – a massive 93% of the buyers and 94% of the sellers showed some interest in selling and buying NFTs again in the future.
- Other Marketplaces – based on data acquired from IMVU, the other digital marketplaces that crypto enthusiasts use to make their purchases include Coinbase (13%), Sandbox (15%), and Blur (13%).
- Positive Sentiment – 70% of the buyers and 71% of the sellers believed that NFTs are very favorable or somehow favorable respectively.
- Opinions – generally, 40% of the users describe NFTs as creative when they describe their opinions of NFTs.
- General Satisfaction – 68% of the buyers and 69% of resellers are satisfied with their involvement in nonfungible tokens.
- Discovery – most NFT users gain knowledge about NFTs from digital platforms. Up to 45% of the users gain awareness via social media, while 27% via online news and media websites.
The IMVU Survey
The IMVU survey also sees that awareness of nonfungible tokens was 18% in April 2021, but exploded to 71% in January 2023. Furthermore, during this period, the general attitude towards NFTs has changed in the same manner.
- In March 2022, 26% of the surveyed users had a response that included either Very Favorable or Somewhat Favorable towards nonfungible tokens. On the other hand, 44% have a Neutral outlook.
- In January 2023, 49% of all the users were Very or Somewhat Favorable, and just 24% have a Neutral rating.
Soon, IMVU creators will have a chance to transform their in-game products into NFTs that get minted, with the artists specifying the total number of items, prices, and descriptions. The digital items will get listed on the IMVU marketplace once they are approved.
Moreover, Together Labs unveils new Limited Edition NFTs every week. These are majorly sought-after digital artifacts and sell out rapidly. This also results in MetaJuice rising to as high as #3 in the DappRadar 7-day Collectibles rankings.
