Shambhala Kodo is a Singapore-based wellness center that specializes in Aromatic Incense Therapy, and Aura and Chakras scanning and therapy. Notably, the center engaged with Web3 & Event IT solution service provider Cloverlemon to create the MandalaFON series of NFTs.
The series was announced in April 2022, with all nonfungible tokens being entirely subscribed by June 20, barely two weeks before its official launch on July 2. Conceptualized by the Founder of Shambhala Kodo, Master Lim Say Fon, together with the first Singaporean master of the Japanese art of Kodo and Aromatherapy, all the 1,011 NFTs in the series were well-developed with a symbolic message that helps boost mindfulness, wellness, and positivity.
This series was unveiled on OpenSea and was wholly revealed at a live event at the Sheraton Towers Hotel in Singapore, the first physical launch event of that nature. The project aims to develop a highly positive space in the NFT sector.
As a result of NFTs’ status as digital assets, most of the NFTs are purchased with the intention of ‘flipping’ for profits. While the profit-centric mindset has already benefitted many people, it has also left the market vulnerable to scams and other forms of predatory behaviour.
Aiming to be a breath of fresh air in the nascent market, Shambhala Kodo aimed to develop a piece of digital art that operates in the same way as collectible art that enables owners of a specific art to find inner peace and wellness.
Master Fon stated:
“The idea came from my study of ancient artworks that contain symbolic messages of positivity and love. From there, I looked to utilize modern platforms such as NFTs to share this traditional style of art with people, and help them find wellness and inner peace within themselves.”
The NFT collection comprises 10 avatars. They include:
- The Lord of the Moon, which represents Monday and the third Eye Chakra.
- The Lord of Mars, representing Tuesday together with the Sacral Chakra.
- The Lord of Mercury, which represents Wednesday and the Throat Chakra
- The Lord of Jupiter, representing Thursday together with the Solar Plexus Chakra
- The Lord of Venus, which represents Friday and the Crown Chakra
- The Lord of Saturn, representing Saturday together with the Root Chakra.
- The Lord of the Sun, which represents Sunday the Heart Chakra.
- The Lord of Purity, representing peace and tranquillity.
- The Lord of Accomplishment, which represents the spirit of pursuing one’s dream.
- The Goddess of Wish Fulfilling, representing self-confidence and boosted faith in oneself.
Consequently, 100 different variations were made with every avatar, with all variations designed to create a unique meaning for every NFT. The collection has 4 tiers of rarity which represent the 4 progressive stages of awakening and enlightenment. These options were made to give all 1,011 NFTs their unique message of positivity and wellness.
Master Fon explains:
“In the case of the Lord of Purity. You can see in his right hand, he is holding a Vagra (a ritual weapon symbolising a thunderbolt), and in his left, a bell. The Vagra represents wisdom, while the bell represents action. Thus, the image represents how one must use great wisdom to perform all duties in the highest form of perfection.”
To guarantee that the artwork is worthy and unique, Master Fon precisely guided the artist on a variety of designs, variations, and meanings of every individual artwork. The nonfungible tokens themselves were all hand-illustrated without any procedural generation involved in the design process to offer the general collection a modern and authentic style, while still ensuring that each piece reflects its unique meaning.
All profits acquired from the NFTs will get reinvested to develop a metaverse that promoted positivity and mindfulness. The MandalaFON NFTs would work as VIP passes for the metaverse and real-world activities, with packages like classes on feng shui, numerology, geomancy, and astrology taught by Master Fon himself.
Moreover, the NFT project is aiming to assist disadvantaged communities in Singapore and beyond. In Q4 2022, the MandalaFON team plans to develop merchandise to benefit children with cancer in Singapore.
Beyond the local borders, Master Fon wants to dedicate some of the project’s revenue to help children in India and Nepal through financing their education and the construction of hostels. He is not a stranger to supporting communities like these, having already donated a water filtration system to a temple located in Laos in April 2019.
MandalaFON Overview
MandalaFON is described as an NFT collection that is launching in July 2022. Using knowledge acquired from ancient Vedic and Buddhist texts and precisely translating them into the digital world, MandalaFON strives to convey messages of positivity to enable people to achieve a healthy body, mind, and soul.
