Adidas Originals has confirmed the release of its latest nonfungible token (NFT) offering – virtual wearables. The brand refers to the new product as “Virtual Gear” – an interoperable NFT fashion experience.
This launch is a leap forward for the brand with the three stripes as it expands its web3 community and metaverse strategy.
Adidas Originals Wearables Collection
On November 16, Adidas /// Studio (Three Stripe Studio) released the highly limited wearables collection. The limited edition 16-piece NFT collection defines the creative and cultural talent that shapes the future of the brand. Notably, the collection works as a bridge between the past and the future.
It connects real-world and metaverse identities, and the developers, communities, and web3 culture of Adidas in general. The ‘Virtual Gear’ collection is also highly interoperable, which means that it can be ported across various metaverses. That makes it ready to adapt and respond to the quickly changing and growing web3 landscape that exists currently.
This collection is available to owners of the Adidas Originals: Capsule NFT Collection unleashed in May, and non-holders too. The Capsule holders will have to ‘burn’ their NFTs to get one of the 16 new digital wearables. Moreover, they get to see which of the 16 distinct pieces they have been allocated once they decide to announce and replace their Capsule NFT.
For the non-holders, the new Virtual Gear collection was made available to purchase directly across NFT marketplaces, from November 16. Furthermore, ‘Virtual Gear holders’ and the compatible partner collection nonfungible tokens (NFTs) MAYC, BAYC, and Inhabitants unlock an incredible new perk in due time. These NFT partners will soon have a chance to use a special PFP Tool. The tool lets their original NFT rock their new Adidas virtual drip.

The hyper-futuristic collection offers exceptional creativity fused with Adidas’ trademark originality. Jackets like the “C2172”, with the extensive ability to “manipulate time”, to a re-imagination of the iconic Adidas tracksuit as a P.F.D – Personal Flotation Device”.
Premium threaded designs like the “WALLRUNNER” also appear. The Collection also features a nod to the timeless Superstar shoe sole silhouette – the “NEOBONE” also boasts the massive creativity of the project.
As part of the continued partnership with the brand’s earliest Web3 partners, the collection also features three limited edition creator-led wearables – each of them representing the creative flair of Gmoney, Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), and Punks Comics.
